Planning for grain store

Objective:

The client’s objective was to erect a steel portal framed agricultural building to replace and extend their existing one.

Proposal:

To create an application to replace the timber frame of our clients existing grain store with a fit for purpose steel portal frame to store arable crops as well as crop inputs such as seed, fertiliser and farm machinery. The replacement part of the building will utilise the existing grain drying floor which is still in full working order and not in need of replacement. Our proposal allowed our client to modernise their existing storage facilities and have crops tipped efficiently by tractors and trailers onto the floor of the building. Whilst roller shutter doors allow for segregation of the different crops grown by our client and there is greater flexibility for storage regarding crop types, crop varieties and crop specifications / grades.

What the consultant Says

There was an essential need for this client to modernise their grain storage facilities and there were flood zone matters that needed addressing in the design.
