Agricultural Building for Hay Storage

Objective:

The clients objective was to achieve planning for an agricultural building to be used for hay storage via permitted development.

Proposal:

Our client instructed us to prepare an application for a new agricultural building on their farm. Although they had existing buildings on site, however these were not fit for purpose and did now allow modern farm machinery to stack bales to full height. The success of this application allowed our client to securely store hay undercover, therefore, maintaining its quality and enabling the client to sell during winter months when prices are at their highest.

Local Planning Authority:

Braintree District Council

What the consultant Says

The siting of this prior notification building was within the farmyard which also included a flood zone 2. The flood zone crosses through the middle of the farmyard. We had to ensure that the building was sited away from this to ensure that Prior Notification was not refused on the grounds that the building was at risk of flooding.
